My name is Jenni Donato and I am a Life and Family Coach. I am so excited to join the Totally Inspired family and will be here every month with regular posts ranging from ways to build confidence with ease, decision making while avoiding regret, dealing with emotional drama and other hints and tips to make your life calmer, your emotions more balanced and your days more fun.
So, what about me? I am a wife and a mother of 2 adorable children, a 4 year old girl with a heart of gold and a 1 year old boy with a mischievous glint in his eyes. My story started really when I met my soul mate at age 30 and we decided we wanted to start a family. In 2014 my beautiful daughter was born and I was thrilled. Her arrival was not without a few hiccups – a heart-breaking miscarriage, a year and a half of waiting to get pregnant and severe hip pain which rendered me on crutches for the first few weeks of motherhood. But here she was, our perfect bundle of joy. I assumed my life with my children would be ‘normal’ as mine had been, but at the age of 2.5 she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. We are told she had lived with a dislocated hip since birth, had a major operation ahead of her, would have to be in a cast from the waist down for 3 months then learn to walk all over again. The whole journey was tough, but we pulled together and came out the other side as a stronger family. This is when I realised I wanted to become a coach and to give back to the community which helped me so much through my own trauma by helping to support the parents of children with additional needs.
I run a not-for-profit coaching company called Chance Coaching CIC which specialising in providing coaching to parents who have found themselves stuck in a rut or feeling as though they are not living the lives they would like. The tools and techniques I use help them to discover what has been holding them back, how to move past emotional trauma and how to reconnect with their loved ones to live a happier and more fulfilling life.
Chance Coaching is a Community Interest Company, which means the profits and funding goes back into the community by providing coaching to parents with children with additional needs or disabilities. These parents sometimes have crippling challenges on top of the ‘normal’ parenting challenges and providing help to these families is my passion. My current clients range from mothers with children with the same condition as my daughter, to clients with very rare and challenging genetic conditions whose lives have been turned upside. They are all amazing individuals who have had to overcome obstacles most of us could never imagine. This is also why I am passionate about awareness raising – both for the rare conditions and disabilities and for what life is like for these amazing families – and have therefore started a ‘Let’s Talk…’ Interview Series, coming soon to www.chancecoaching.com
